Dorset Blind Association not only celebrated its 90th Anniversary last year, it was also recognised as one of the top three charities in the county, at the Dorset Business Awards.
This independent, local charity, provide community services, practical help and advice to people who suffer from sight loss in Dorset. Whilst there are 6000 registered blind and partially sighted people, the true figure is believed to be three or four times this - around 25000.
Lorraine Smith Community Fundraising Manager said " We rely entirely on a combination of voluntary donations, grants and subscription income. We continue to look at new and innovative ways to deliver and sustain our services and would welcome any support from the community."
The Dorset Blind Association has a current Appeal for a Help and Information Desk within the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Eye Unit aimed at giving people support immediately after they have been told the news that they have been registered blind.
