 | | | I've just been taken on a tour of 25 Woodside Road in Penn Hill, Parkstone, a tour which has opened my eyes to how a veterinary practice SHOULD be run. The practice statement of 'Compassionate Pet Care' is apparent in every aspect of their business. I'm talking about AfriVet, who have taken a whole house and converted it into a veterinary clinic with a difference.
It is a single vet practice, so you see the same vet every time meaning you receive continuity of treatment. Being a converted house, your pet will feel more relaxed as the layout is homely and familiar. No placing your dog onto a table for
examination, after all, you wouldn't stand your dog on your dining room table, would you? You'll find Graham, the vet, will come down to floor level making them feel safe and secure. The layout of the Penn Hill practice is ideal for the purpose with separate kennel rooms for cats and dogs. The theatre is fully equipped for all general needs and has everything for the care of your pet including the most modern anaesthetics available, X-ray facilities, in-house blood testing, ECG, and blood
pressure monitoring equipment.
Consultations are a minimum of 15 minutes, which is longer than standard. Why not microchip your pet? The amazing Identichip system is used at AfriVet with a special 25% discount offer available during the month of June as part of National Microchipping Month. Your pet would be lost without it!
AfriVet is run by Graham Smith (BSc Agric, BVSc, MRCVS), who has 10 years companion animal experience and Nicky Trevorrow BSc, Dip CABT(COAPE), VN, whose experience includes all aspects of veterinary nursing and is now studying for a masters degree in companion animal behaviour.
I was very impressed with the new AfriVet practice right down to the African theme throughout. For all pet owners, I highly recommend AfriVet, giving it a ten out of ten for customer service and compassionate pet care. Martyn Brown |
